May 14th 2023

I am a trans girl who lives in a queer camp in Slab City, a homeless squatter town in the Sonoran desert in southern California.

Our camp is dedicated to helping our neighbors and community.

We need food for our pantry, which not only goes to feeding our camp, but feeds many of our neighbors as well.

We need $30 to get to the store to use our food stamps and $20 to get hygiene supplies.

None of us have a regular income but we’re all involved in a project to improve our community.

Please help us raise $50 to get food and hygiene supplies for our camp and our neighbors.

When I was a kid, my mom always hated that Candy Kong was a gorilla, but still had to have curves so you’d know she was the “girl” one. And yeah, fair, that’s sexist as hell. But, recently, I got to thinking…

Is it ever explicitly said that Candy Kong is a gorilla?

Sure, she’s a Kong, but that also encompasses Diddy and Dixie, who are apparently some kind of monkey and a chimp. To be a Kong, you just need to be a simian resident of Kong Island.

So. She’s not a gorilla. She has the simian snout, and body hair, but she also has feet that are halfway between simian and human, long legs, and humanoid breasts…

My God.

Candy Kong is an Australopithecus.

Monster Energy sued the Dark Deception video game series over the title “Gods and Monsters,” and it won a settlement in which the series can never use the word “monster” in a game title again. This corporation sues over any use of this single normal word in any context it possibly can, has apparently been doing so for many years now, and judges keep siding with them?!?!?

They also sue over any use of a green glowy logo over a black background.

I think companies should be crushed with rocks

pawpaw is a native fruit tree of eastern north america the IL/WI has been considered a northern range edge but that's changing Pawpaws have historically & continue to move around because people like pawpaws and pawpaws like people the fruit pawpaw is a sweet treat, like a banana in the shape of a mango depending on the ripeness and variety, pawpaws taste like banana, custard, caramel, melon, mango You can eat them as: bread, ice cream, jam, curd, and straight up Left to their own devices, pawpaws form thickets that don't make much, if any, pawpaw fruit each fall a helping hand with spring pawpaw flower pollination helps guarantee a better fall harvestALT

i have become radicalized as a pawpaw agent, pollinate a flower or two on your local tree!

More isolated, further north = less likely to be self-pollinated. You need different genetics around and enough awake pollinators to make sure you get fall fruit, so lend a helping hand

sending love out tonight to everyone who is progressively losing their abilities, whether that’s movement, ability to walk, eyesight, or hearing.

it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that you can’t do things that you used to be able to do. I’ll be honest, it feels like you’re losing control of your life. it can feel very isolating and hopeless. its scary and overwhelming, and it’s so hard to deal with.

you are not less than just because you can do less. im proud of you for still being here, and i wish you ease with adjusting to new ways of life. please take care of yourself, i love you.

gentle addition for the folks who are losing their mental capacity in any way, shape, or form. If you can’t think as clearly as you used to, if you don’t have the executive functioning you once had, if your memory is getting worse, if your sensory processing issues are increasing, if your episodes are becoming more frequent. Your life has inherent value and I hope I can help remind you of that.

1 in 10 infections (not people, actual infections) will result in long covid for most people. Significant nerological impacts, significant cardiovascular impacts, fatigue and chronic pain, complications with other conditions, and other symptoms we dont yet understand are what come with long covid. And yet, the World Health Organization has declared today that the pandemic is over.

The covid pandemic is not over at all, only just beginning. The mass disabling of people over time of repeated infections will overwhelm our deeply ableist systems not built for accommodating disability on a wide scale.

The fact that the oldest mask found in the world has an entire history of Palestinian dispossession attached to it is nuts

“For Palestinians, these historical objects are evocative. They act as vessels carrying our memories and traumas (…) these tactile forms are not merely material objects - they are tools that we identify with and resist with, and with which we exert our disappearing existence.

“For Palestinians, they are emotional companions, ” says Dima Srouji, a Palestinian architect who teaches at Birzeit university, in an article about how Israel is displacing artefacts from the occupied West Bank and erasing Palestinian identity.

“In colonial time, there is an attempt to relegate things to the past, as belonging to history and to museums,” says Abbas. “But indigenous people are essentially saying: we want to use this, this belongs to us, so it becomes a battle over time, over living time.”

Two people in my town were stabbed to death this week. The third victim survived thankfully but she is still in critical condition. The killer, who was on track to becoming a doctor, went on a stabbing spree after being kicked out of the university. He targeted the homeless. He’s a coward and an idiot, caught because he returned to his crime scene in broad daylight.

The first two victims are receiving all the media attention since they had “accomplished” more in life. Please please help donate to the surviving victim’s recovery fund. Kimberlee Guillory was on the streets because she could not stay in a shelter without giving up her dog. She is known as a kind and respected member of the community, and she needs as much help as she can get right now. Thank you in advance!
